President Trump hosted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the White House on Thursday, September 25 — Erdoğan’s first visit to Washington since 2019. The meeting came after the American president’s strong statements against Russia and as the Trump administration intensified its diplomatic efforts to end the war in Gaza.
Just two days earlier, on Tuesday, September 23, President Trump had met with Erdoğan and other Arab and Muslim leaders on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. During that gathering, the administration reportedly presented its 21-point plan for peace and post-war governance in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to meet with Trump at the White House next week.
