Dominic Green: “Israel’s influence on American politics has been vastly exaggerated by critics of the U.S.–Israel alliance”

In this second part of his conversation with Jacob Heilbrunn, Dominic Green stresses that, despite current tensions in in the Middle East, the overall trajectory of the region remains constructive: efforts to disarm Hezbollah, shifts in Syria, and pressure on Iran all point toward gradual stabilization. For Green, the challenges are real — Lebanon’s fragility, the Palestinian question — but not insurmountable.
Regarding the U.S.–Israel relationship, he insists it should be assessed on the basis of mutual interests, not caricatures of influence.
